After two years of rocking and ruling stadiums around the world, Taylor Swift will wrap up her epic Eras Tour at BC Place stadium in Vancouver, Canada, this weekend.
As the 34-year-old pop superstar gets set to kick off the final three shows on Friday night before the curtain closes on Sunday, we look back on the 13 best moments from the highest-grossing tour of all time in honor of her lucky number.
Setting it off
Twenty-one months ago, Swift opened the Eras Tour on March 17, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. “I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that if you’re here tonight, there’s a pretty good chance that you went through a considerable amount of effort to be with us tonight,” she told the crowd, acknowledging how difficult it was for some fans to get tickets. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for wanting to be with us on night one.”
As rumors of Swift’s romance with Matty Healy circulated, the 1975 frontman attended the tour on May 5, 2023, in Nashville, then returned the next night to perform with opener Phoebe Bridgers. But after they split, Healy got the ex treatment on “The Tortured Poets Department” this year, with songs such as “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” seemingly alluding to the British artist.
Soaking it all in
Proving that she’s a force of nature herself, Swift performed her full, three-and-a-half-hour show in the pouring rain at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on May 20, 2023. “We’ve had rain shows at Gillette Stadium before but this was a full on deluge that never let up,” she wrote on Instagram. “I just want to thank that iconic crowd!! Love you so much you have no idea.”
Karmic justice with Ice Spice
After Healy’s controversial podcast comments about Ice Spice, the rapper appeared at the first of Swift’s three shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, on May 26, 2023. She got the best revenge and joined the singer for their “Karma” remix.
Taylor reunites with Taylor
Swift’s ex Taylor Lautner cartwheeled and backflipped — in a nod to their 2010 movie “Valentine’s Day” — at the Eras Tour stop in Kansas City, Mo., on July 7, 2023. “He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the ‘Speak Now’ album,” she said as she introduced Lautner, who returned the love: “I respect you so much. Not just for the singer you are, the songwriter, the performer — but truly for the human you are.”
Hats off to Taylor
During the “Red” portion of her Eras Tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Swift gave her “22” hat to the Bianka Bryant — the 8-year-old daughter of the late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant — on Aug. 3, 2023. When they went in for a hug, it was all the feels.
Statement announcement
Swift picked just the right date — Aug. 9, 2023 — to announce the upcoming release of “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” which would drop two months later. “Since I was a teenager, I wanted to own my own music, and the way to do it was too rerecord my albums,” she told the crowd at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. “You were 100 percent behind me … I will never stop thanking you for that.”
Big stage to big screen
The “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” concert film premiered in Los Angeles on Oct. 11, 2023, two days before it opened in theaters. Filmed over three shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, it became the highest-grossing concert film of all time, raking in $267.1 million at the box office worldwide.
Sweetheart shout-out
Taking her relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce to a stadium-size level, Swift changed the lyrics to “Karma” when her Kansas City Chiefs boyfriend attended the Eras Tour show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Nov. 11, 2023: “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me.” The singer then rushed into his arms after the show.
A new era of the Eras Tour
After a two-month break, the Eras Tour reopened in Paris on May 9, 2024, with Swift reworking the show to include a section from her new album “The Tortured Poets Department” with tracks such as “Fortnight” and “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart” into the setlist. She also updated the costumes and and changed the opening montage.
One royal moment
Prince William celebrated his 42nd birthday by shimmying to “Shake It Off” at the first night of the Eras Tour stop at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 21, 2024. He then took kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte backstage to snap a royal selfie with the pop queen and her beau.
Travis Kelce takes the stage
Making his stage debut on the tour, Travis Kelce made a surprise appearance at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 23, 2024. Dressed in a tuxedo and top hat, he lifted Swift into his arms, placed her onto a couch, and then playfully touched her up as she made an outfit change.
An “Espresso” shot of Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter had previously opened for Swift on the Eras Tour, going back to the Latin American leg in 2023, but after the success of her “Short n’ Sweet” album and tour, she was on a new level when she made a surprise appearance at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome on Oct. 26, 2024. The two singers did a mashup of Carpenter’s hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” as well as Swift’s “Is It Over Now?”
